EDUCATION:

Associates of Industrial design from The Art Institute of Colorado ‘95

3D generalist with 30 years in exhibit/display industry with a history of commercial work in the Denver area and internationally.

My 3D pipeline currently focuses on Blender and some add-ons for 3D and various software for post. I do not use any Adobe or Autodesk products.

History

I was hired three months prior to my graduation from the Art Institute of Colorado in 1995 by ExhibitQuest, where I served as Creative Director. My role involved designing exhibits and environments utilizing a custom modular system that allowed for reconfiguration. My responsibilities included concept generation, 3D renderings, and presentations, as well as overseeing all large-format graphic production. Additionally, I provided setup instructions and supervised installations at convention halls.

In 2000, I founded Jonathan Miller Design and began servicing a diverse range of clients and projects. I completed architectural visualization projects for steel building companies, including General Steel and Armstrong Steel, where my images were instrumental in securing clients, obtaining funding, and gaining municipal approval for construction projects. Additionally, I provided various renderings for advertising agencies in support of activation areas and promotional events.

After some time, I had the opportunity to work with a New York-based company called Maximum Impact, where I spent several years designing window displays and visual merchandising environments. My responsibilities included concept generation and rendering presentations, as well as graphic production of both 2D and 3D elements, including CNC file preparation. Additionally, I was responsible for surveying stores and spaces and preparing site guides with dimensions for product installations.

I collaborated with Mark Boulding on "Boulding Blocks," a brain puzzle that was featured in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Over the course of three years, I created all the models for the 3D print prototypes for Shapeways, designed the graphics for marketing and the website, and even developed the display he showcased at the Toy Fair in New York City

Currently, I serve as a Senior Exhibit Designer at Altitude Exhibits in Colorado, where I collaborate closely with clients to design 3D exhibits, displays, retail environments, and experiential spaces that align with their objectives. My expertise encompasses space planning, 3D modeling, texturing, and lighting, along with animation and video editing skills, enabling me to create presentations that address a wide range of client needs and contribute to successful proposal outcomes.

Long term goals:

A). To work on an indie video game development team as an environment artist/3D modeler art to gain experience and contribute.

B). To master 3D matte painting and secure experience with a film development studio.

C). Finish my video game EDEN.

D). To finish my animated 3D short movie “STADIUM”.
